Elder Neighborhood Camps

Once you become an Elder, you are eligible, but not required, to camp in the Elder designated sites. Space at Elder camp is very limited. Elders are encouraged to stay in their current camps as long as possible. The Elder camps only have tent spaces.
Per the original rules set by the Elder committee, all Elder camps are for 18 years and older. No children allowed, except for visiting.
There are three designated Elder Camps
The camps are tent only-vehicle campers please check button below- 2023 OCF Vehicle Camping
The large Hub Elder Camp is located next to Elder Hub.
It is located in a forest with large trees, is close to showers and parking, but it is on a slight hill. This site has approximately 75 spaces.
The South Woods Elder Annex Tent Site (SWEATS) is a smaller site located near Miss Piggy's lot in the south woods. It is shady and has flat ground. It has access to toilets and showers close by, but no water or electricity. This site has approximately 20 spaces.
Del Boca Veneta is our newest camp and is also in the south woods, near Trotter's field. It is shady and has flat, although uneven ground in places. It has access to toilets and showers, (although showers are not that close) but no water or electricity. This site has approximately 30 spaces.
If you wish to relocate to the HUB Elder Camp, please contact
[email protected].
If you wish to relocate to one of the South Woods camps, (SWEATS and DBV) please contact [email protected]
If you are a new camper requesting a space in one of the elder camps, please include your name, email, phone number, and approximate space need. (Tent footprint, and if you are requesting space for an SO)

Hello campers
For many years we have been getting wood chips from the site crew for site leveling.
Update regarding the wood chips:
It is unclear that with the new concern of Emerald Ash borer and fire danger that there will be wood chips brought to us. It is not clear if we can bring our own. I am still trying to get clarity about this. Update: No wood chips!
Sand is approved for ground leveling. Other materials must be approved by the site manager.
Please go to the OCF guidelines page 19-20 for complete information. (link to guidelines below)
Excerpts from OCF guidelines
No cutting of any vegetation, living or dead, is permitted except by VegManEcs, Site Crew, Tree Crew, or their designees. See the Main Camp QuarterMaster if you have questions.
Much of the Fair’s natural ground cover has been removed in recent years; no additional clearing is permitted. Consult with Main Camp QuarterMaster if you need help tying up vegetation in your booth. Please be sure to remove your tiebacks by July 31. Use of all gas-powered tools is prohibited except during Main Camp when they must be checked in with QuarterMaster and receive a permit tag and fire extinguisher.
To help prevent the invasion of the tree-killing beetle known as the emerald ash borer, and other harmful insects, fungi, and blights (e.g. sudden oak death), ash wood is prohibited, unless previously coordinated with and approved by the OCF Site Manager. Firewood, plants, soils, woodchips, wooden booth construction materials and decoration materials (excluding de-barked, kiln-dried professionally milled lumber) can be vectors for disease and invasive species.
Archaeology.
The OCF property is the home of many important archaeological sites protected by state law. Ground disturbance on these sites requires a state-issued permit. All ground disturbing activities, including digging, as well as replacement of existing in-ground structures, must be approved by archaeology and construction crews.
Lumpy campsites.
Campsites may be leveled by the addition of approved materials. Removal/ digging/scraping of surface soil is not allowed. Approved materials for filling low spots include sand or other materials specifically approved by the Site Manager. Straw, hay, or bark mulch may not be used in campsites.

Elder Camp History
Originally started by Kay Kintzley and Mary Barton. When they stepped back, Chris Browne took the job and Peggy Day was main assistant. When Chris Browne unexpectedly died, Peggy Day stepped up and automated much of the duties so that it would be easier for others to step in and help. Recently, Annemarie Hirsch joined Peggy as host, and now that Peggy has stepped back, Annemarie is the lead host.
Eric Nicholson is on the Elder Hub set up and take down team and is the lead person in pre-Fair poison oak removal. Larry Lynch created an accurate camp site map and has taken on the role of campsite lead handyperson. 2024 will be the last year Annemarie and Larry will be in the role as co-hosts for Hub Elder Camp.
